Call for seafood processors to help inform industry

24 January 2018

There's a call for seafood processors to inform industry and government about the financial state of the sector.

This industry health check is of particular importance as the UK prepares to the leave the EU.  Seafish is inviting processors to participate in an annual financial survey to give decision makers accurate information on the size and structure of the sector and its value to the wider economy.

It's simple to participate; processors have the option to send a copy of financial year-end accounts or complete a short survey form. All information will be treated in strict confidence in line with the Data Protection Act. Individual companies will not be identified in any reports or publications.

Seafish will contact all majority seafood processors to invite them to participate. The survey begins on the 22nd of January and will continue throughout February.  Results are published in our biennial Seafood Processing Industry Report with the next edition to be released in March 2019.

The survey is one of several Seafish projects looking to shed light on the processing sector. Currently employee information surveys are helping to understand the potential impact of Brexit on the processing workforce.

For more information, or to participate in the survey, contact Seafish Economics economics@seafish.co.uk or call them on 0131 524 8668.
